For Todd Peck, racing is in his family blood. His father, Dr. Michael Peck, is an experienced professional and former owner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. His uncle, Tom Peck, was an accomplished racer for the family team in the same series. Today it is Todd’s turn to take the reign of the family racing operation, and they plan on moving straight up the ladder of NASCAR.
“Our family has a lot of history in the sport,” said Todd Peck. “It’s an honor to carry on the tradition of the family name.”
Todd Peck first began racing at the age of 14. He raced karts and quickly found the passion the rest of his family had already known. Peck then became very serious and moved into the Allison Legacy Series, a developmental series that races throughout the east coast. Peck found more success and the decision was made to progress to the USAR Pro Cup Series. Peck was only 16 at the time, and actually became the youngest to start in the series.
Peck spent the next five years in the division developing his craft. He was successful and collected wins and many top finishes. He was considered a contender at each race and the Peck Motorsports brand was quickly making its way back to
the top of motorsports.
The progress continued in 2007 when Peck made his debut in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at the Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway. This series is known as the premier development series in NASCAR before reaching the national touring series. Peck has raced in over 15 races in the east series with nearly half as top-25 finishes. The team did so with limited resources.
“The NASCAR development series really helped us gain the experience we needed to race on the
national tour,” continued Peck. “We were fighting our resources more than the competition, but we
stuck together and proved we could do it.”
Peck continued to move up the ladder in 2011 by joining the ranks of the NASCAR Camping
World truck Series. Peck made three starts, his first at Iowa Speedway in July, and had a best finish of
27th at the tight, but fast Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Indianapolis. Peck gained experience his
first year, but also did so promoting a cause close to his heart. Peck suffers from Arthritis, and
partnered with the Arthritis Foundation in early 2011 to promote and raise awareness for the
condition, including juvenile arthritis. It was this program that connected the team with more
fans throughout the country.
“It really has been an awesome experience to partner with the Arthritis Foundation and help
raise awareness,” said Peck on the partnership. “We have met people of all ages, even the
kids, who like me, suffer from juvenile arthritis. It’s cool that we can connect with so many
people and help inspire them.”
